Air Pollution: The Invisible Killer.
Dear Reader,
I did not think much of air pollution and the effects it has on the body and environment until an unfortunate tragedy took place. My grandma, Lalita Narang, died of lung complications. She was a teacher – awarded by the Government of India for her work with underprivileged children. She lived in New Delhi, one of the most polluted cities in the world. Throughout the years, her lungs were weakened; she was infected with fungal pneumonia and died on July 23rd, 2019. Her death had a profound impact on everyone her kindness touched. For me, it was a catalyst for change. Deaths like hers are preventable yet they occur so often. Nine out of ten people inhale more air pollution than the World Health Organization’s limits and each year, seven million people die due to air pollution-based deaths. The fact that air pollution is a leading cause of death around the globe is alarming and requires serious and immediate action.
At Aware of Air, our goal is to educate the public about all things air pollution with a special focus on preventing lung damage. Our efforts extend to fighting climate change and improving the health of many. With your help, we can work to prevent air pollution from taking the lives of our loved ones.
We hope that you join us in our mission,
